After
his graduation from the Honors Program of the College of William and Mary, Dr. von Elten attended the Medical College
of Virginia. While there he was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha (the honorary medical society). After serving his
internship at the Medical College of Virginia he completed his residency in Blackstone, VA. During the two ensuing
decades he has lived and practiced medicine in Warrenton, both in the Family Practice and the Emergency Medicine
arena. Dr. von Elten is Board Certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine, with added certifications in
Electrocardiography (American College of Cardiology) and Carotid Sonology from the American Society of Neuroimaging.
He is additionally certified as a Medical Review Officer. Dr. von Elten's academic interests are centered in Lipidology
and Vascular Biology.
He has been a member of the Fauquier Hospital's Parent Board, Fauquier Health Systems, since 1988, and also serves
on the Advisory Board of BB&T. He has served as past president of the Fauquier Hospital Medical Staff, past
chairman of the Department of Medicine, and has been past Chairman of the Credentials committee
